We are SO excited the season is just a few weeks away! It has been a LONG winter and we are ready for some FUN!

We had another FANTASTIC season last summer. So much so….that they moved us up to Division 3! I tried to tell them we were awful (let’s be serious….we were AWESOME) but they wouldn’t keep us down. That will create some challenges logistically because we are swimming very big teams this year. But competition wise….we are going to be GREAT! I absolutely LOVED seeing so many of your swimmers at our year-round meets this year! My heart was bursting! ❤️ Dutchman is going to be a force to deal with AGAIN this summer! YES!

First, our excellent coaching staff is almost all back this summer for the 2024 season! Mae Deaton is coming back as Head Coach. Dani Koehler and AJ Robinson will return as Senior Assistant Coaches. Matt Robinson is returning as an Assistant Coach. Ally Gay, who volunteered last summer, is jumping on as an Assistant this year as well. Nessie Gay will be around but she is preparing for what is next after she graduates high school and we are so excited for her!

Next, 6 and unders will still have to pass an independent swimming test to be allowed on the team. Your swimmer must be able to swim the 15 yards unassisted. That means they can dog paddle, elementary backstroke, whatever they need to do to get to those 15 yards with no help. Our coaches will be in the water with them so that part will not go away. We introduced this as a requirement two seasons ago, and it was a success. If your child cannot do 15 yards unassisted, feel free to reach out to one of our coaches for lessons. When they are able to meet that goal, we will be happy to add them to our team at a prorated price!

Now, we have some changes to our swim team board. The Deaton and the Nye Families are stepping back. But we are so lucky that we have great families stepping in. Missy Enders is taking over the Volunteer Coordinator position! YAY!!! She will be excellent! Victoria Didawick agreed to take over the monster job of Concessions and Treasurer. WOW! These ladies may be crazy but we will TAKE IT! I am SO excited to work alongside them and all of y'all! Lindsey Singletary has been working SO HARD as the New Dutchman Downs Pool President! She's got a lot of great things planned for the pool and has been working on key improvements to get the pool ready! We are so fortunate to have her in our corner as well!

We still have our Dutchman Downs Swim Outlet Page! Our team gets 5% back on every purchase if you are logged in under our page! We have sweatshirts, t-shirts (not 2024 team shirts), tank tops, basic gear and more on that page! Our team suit can be purchased there, as well as at Kiefer Swim. We are revamping our sponsorship opportunities! We are working on a tiered system that ranges from $250-$750! We will roll out that information in the coming weeks! If you are interested in helping sponsor our team….please reach out! We love our sponsors!!

Finally, the sick rules still apply. Regardless of illness, please do not bring your swimmers to practice if they are sick. It is common sense, but it is also helpful in keeping the rest of the team healthy.

• May 19th: Meet the Coaches from 6-7pm at the pool
• May 20th: First Day of Practice
• June 2nd: Time Trials (Time TBA)
• June 13th: First Day of Split Morning/Evening Practice
• June 12th: First Swim Meet of the 2023 Season
• July 13th: Cary City Meet at Scottish Hills

The meet schedule is posted on our website. We are a smaller pool, and we had 130 (!!) swimmers last year. We anticipate that many or more this year! We are offering both morning and evening practices again (once traditional calendar school is out). That schedule will be available soon! If you can come in the mornings, please do. It will help alleviate overcrowding in our evening practices!

Hello and welcome to the 2024 pool season at Dutchman Downs! For those who don’t know me, my name is Lindsey Singletary and this is my first year managing the pool for the Dolphins. My family moved into the neighborhood in February 2020, however, my husband grew up in Dutchman Downs and has lived and swam here since 1992. This pool truly enriches our neighborhood and those neighborhoods around us, the bonds created each summer and the friendships made for adults and children are unmatched. I love this pool and what it offers this community and I hope as your Pool Manager I am able to bring some new life and revitalization to this place we all lovingly call home for four months each summer.

The 2024 season will be a season of change, as we are now going to be managed by AMG (Aquatic Management Group) and I’m hoping we are able to move forward and forge a great relationship with this incredible partner. We are also doing some key work behind the scenes to ensure that we are setting our pool up for long term success in the coming years, knowing a big renovation will soon be in our future. Due to this we are raising the membership price by $25 to $550 which you will see reflected in your invoices.
